Currency

 

Hong Kong dollar (HKD) is the official currency, which is pegged to the US dollar at a rate of about 7.80 HKD to 1 USD, although exchange rates may fluctuate slightly. You can exchange your currency for Hong Kong dollars at any authorised money exchanger. For extra peace of mind, look for a money exchanger that is accredited by the Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Scheme.

Cash can be withdrawn from ATM which are widespread and operated 24 hours.

International credit cards such as American Express, VISA and MasterCard are welcome at many hotels, retail shops and restaurants. Such premises usually display stickers showing the credit cards they accept at their entrances

Electricity and Voltage

The standard electrical voltage in Hong Kong is 220 volts AC, 50Hz. The majority of electrical outlets in Hong Kong take a three-pronged UK-style plug.

Transportation within Hong Kong

There are plenty of ways to get around Hong Kong such as MTR train, bus, ferry, tram and taxi.

​

July is a summer season. Typically, the weather is hot, humid and sunny, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. The temperature can exceed 31°C but high humidity levels can make it feel even hotter.

Insurance and Liabilities

Participants shall be regarded in every aspect as carrying their own risk for loss or injury to person or property. The organizers will not be responsible for any injury, loss, damage, accident to property or additional expenses incurred as a result of delays or changes in air, rail, sea, road, or other services, strikes, sickness, weather, acts of terrorism and any other cause. Participants are advised to arrange adequate travel, liability and health care insurances.
